The "hero disguise" costume let me get a little closer, although there wasn't a color pattern to make the arm spikes red without making the hands red too, and I can't have a tattered mini-cape until L20.
Not sure I'll play him up that high. )
ETA: Got Kopikat's second costume slot and made her something approximating her Nobilis/Exalted-style outfit from Exarchs: A Season in Crimson.
Too bad there's no marble pattern available. Vines doesn't cut it. )
No books of note, was too tired Wednesday to go back to the shop later. )

The Widow powersets don't really appeal to me, but I was in the mood to fiddle with the costume options and I noticed that I could approximate some of the look and feel of Spider-Man 2099...so I made this character to use it, and to at least have a "mule" villain on Freedom in case any of my friends wanted help transferring stuff.
Does whatever a Widow can.... )
I decided not to get too weird with this one. Her name is Kay Brubaker, she's with the government, and she's here to help.
Just not here to help YOU. )
I just unlocked villain epic archetypes on City of Heroes, and was pondering a female Arachnos Soldier based on Kei of the Dirty Pair. But she apparently has no canonical last name, so the "Operative (last name)" form of name won't fly.
"Night Call": A year before Sam Witwicky's world exploded, a young woman's world got turned upside down by a mysterious caller.
One of the "modern" ghost stories I heard in my youth involved a stormy night and someone getting phone calls from a dead person, only to find the next morning that the storm knocked down the phone lines over the person's grave. Given how many people have cellphones these days (especially kids, the usual target for this sort of "oooooh, spooky!" tale), it struck me that this particular story was on its way to obsolescence. How to update it for the cell phone age?

The easiest way, of course, is to find that the person was accidentally or intentionally buried with a phone (edit: with lots of "roll over (in the grave) minutes"?), but that's not exactly a creepy revelation.

Another possibility was that there's a series of calls from the person, who has been missing for years and presumed dead, and who claims to BE dead, eventually leading to the discovery that they were murdered and their body dumped in the concrete foundation of a cellphone tower that was being built at the time. :) Variations on that theme include a cell tower unwittingly built over an unmarked old graveyard, or next to a marked graveyard, etc.

There's probably a paper in it for people involved in writing about economics and virtual economies here: what are the dynamics for a powerleveling/goldfarming service when it comes to buying respecs?
I ramble on at length behind cut. )

One of the books my sister got me for Christmas was a former library book, from a Catholic school in Texas (odds are it passed through a few resellers between them and me, though). One thing that intrigues me is that the "due date" bookplate in the back shows a flurry of activity in the course of two months and then nothing.
It went a bit long, so here's a cut )
I know at least a few school librarians read my LJ, any other possibilities suggest themselves to you?

Returned to Doctor Dave after a few months of just shuffling him around to day job spots, got him to L32 (yay Singularity) and grabbed his other two costume slots.

Six months or so ago, I offered a free month on City of Heroes using some codes I got at Odd Lots (I still have one of those codes if anyone's interested in giving CoH a try, by the way), and the person who took me up on it made Izzy Spacecase, a Ziggy Stardust pastiche. I wanted to make a companion character to show him the ropes, but he couldn't remember if he'd made Izzy on the Freedom server or the Triumph server. Since I had no characters on Freedom I couldn't check the name, so I figured I'd make a quick random character...if it told me the name was in use, I'd know it was Freedom. It wasn't and once I picked the name I couldn't back out, oops. So I left the fugly random-costumed scrapper there as a placeholder so I could use the "check name availability" function on Freedom, and didn't come back to it for months.

Last night, after getting some XP for Kazengar (who looks like he won't make L50 before break ends, sigh) I decided on a whim to see if I could whip my Izzy into playable shape. Thanks to the Holiday Event and the sale of some candy cane salvage, I was able to revise his look into something a little more Bowie-like yet not a duplicate of the original Izzy.
I do like me the high collar )
