Between the televangelist types (which we know he can find on the radio at will) and psychic stuff, a newcomer would be excused to think that humans really do have spirits that live independent of their bodies. Or, at least, that we think we do. :)
Hey, I think we do and I have more reason than most. But let's face it, there has never been anyone who tried to call up dead people who had anything good result from it. At best, I think anyone who claims to be talking to the dead is just fraud.
The idea of an alien robot trying to sort out that entire chain of human mental weirdness is great. It could have been even worse, had he had a hologram generator available.
