The other Izzy Spacecase....

Six months or so ago, I offered a free month on City of Heroes using some codes I got at Odd Lots (I still have one of those codes if anyone's interested in giving CoH a try, by the way), and the person who took me up on it made Izzy Spacecase, a Ziggy Stardust pastiche. I wanted to make a companion character to show him the ropes, but he couldn't remember if he'd made Izzy on the Freedom server or the Triumph server. Since I had no characters on Freedom I couldn't check the name, so I figured I'd make a quick random character...if it told me the name was in use, I'd know it was Freedom. It wasn't and once I picked the name I couldn't back out, oops. So I left the fugly random-costumed scrapper there as a placeholder so I could use the "check name availability" function on Freedom, and didn't come back to it for months.

Last night, after getting some XP for Kazengar (who looks like he won't make L50 before break ends, sigh) I decided on a whim to see if I could whip my Izzy into playable shape. Thanks to the Holiday Event and the sale of some candy cane salvage, I was able to revise his look into something a little more Bowie-like yet not a duplicate of the original Izzy.


Oh, and I did a "holographic disguise" costume for Antiochus V the other night. He really needs Roman pieces, but that's a looong way off for him.

I don't even know much about Bowie/Ziggy but that look for Izzy does seem pretty great to me.

I didn't have time to do many task forces but I have to say that the one that gives access to the Roman stuff was pretty fun.

So CoH doesn't lock a player name to that character across all servers? MapleStory does- make a character and no one else can use that exact spelling, even on a different server. I believe "free" names from character deletions and name changes can eventually be used by others, but there's a waiting period before the name is made available.

Yeah, they're server-specific. When I moved TerraRyze to another server to free up space, he became TerraRyze1, for instance, since the name was already taken there.
