In the same order that got me Sentinel Prime, I also ordered Ultra Magnus. It shipped separately and arrived today.

1) They treated it as a separate order, didn't apply the coupon code, and charged me more shipping than the combined order...so it ended up costing me almost ten dollars more.

2) It's broken. The sound and light gimmick doesn't work in robot mode, and half the screw heads on the torso are stripped so I couldn't even take it apart to try fixing myself.

I have emailed customer service a complaint. Worst case, I send it back for full refund (including shipping) and wait for it to show up in a store. Best case, they send me a second Ultra Magnus and don't insist I return the defective one (I've heard of this happening to others) while also refunding me the 10%. Probably gonna end up something in between, but I'll review the one I have while I wait for results.

That's weird. I hadn't thought that Animated was having as much trouble in the electronics department as previous lines. Then again, I could be wrong, since the evidence is right there...

The shipping thing makes no sense at all, I'd definitely want a refund on that.

My Magnus has a very soft voice; it's hard to hear him in anything other than a quiet room.

I have to wonder something about this toy...is his "eyebrow" supposed to be raised by default? On mine, the eyebrow only straightens out when you're holding the button. Seems very strange they'd make it that way instead of the other way around. It's like he's in a constant state of skepticism.

No, your eyebrow is on wrong, as far as I can tell. Or mine is. :)

In my case with Big Bad Toy Store, their return policy is to pay the return shipping themselves. And it's a clearance price toy that they want to get rid of in the firts place, so paying an extra $8 for UPS to return what amounts to a defective item they can do nothing with at this point just costs more.

Hasbro will most likely want the original returned as it's a current product. Things like that can effectively be refurbished/repackaged cheaper than it costs to produce an entire unit.

Oh, they have a clear returns policy. I just put everything back in the box, slap on a label, and put it in the mail. Full refund, including shipping, or a replacement. I'd rather go for replacement, but I want my 10% off back on it first, otherwise it's cheaper to do refund and wait for Wal-Mart to get it in.

Check their shipping policies. If they state clearly that orders split up by their own fault will not incur extra shipping charges, then they owe you money. They should also owe you the coupon fees in that case.

It also turns out that HTS's invoices are often incorrect, not reflecting what was actually charged.
