MST3K.com now has flash-animated webisodes featuring the Bots on the Satellite of Love (crappy flash interface means no direct linking, and the actual link is "Recent Events" which is hardly intuitive). The tunnel lead-in is almost as long as the actual webisode, the sound quality is incredibly choppy on the second episode (and I'm on a T1, so it's likely their problem).
The first episode is okay. A bit draggy, and the gag is obvious from almost the get-go, but it has some charm. The second is merely annoying, painfully unfunny without managing to break through to amusingly painfully unfunny (which I think is what they were shooting for). The animation is...crude. Deliberately so. I don't mind it, but neither am I particularly attracted to it.
Story-wise, it looks like these are "side stories" taking place on the SOL during times when neither Mike nor Joel is around.
In any case, I don't really plan to bookmark this, or even make any particular effort to remember to check for new eps. Not unless I hear that the quality has gone way up.
