I've done a scratchbuild, a Robot Heroes, a Classics transforming one, an Attacktix and a TF:A keychain chibi, so I suppose a pony is inevitable. I tried using dye first, but it mottled around the glued spots and then soaked through the gray paint (many many layers of it, in fact, and I'll probably need to retouch the gray again later).
Various cute views. )

Huh, forgot to post this initially, or on the second costume. Flying Nightingale is a character I made for a WWII-themed supergroup on City of Heroes (timelost, slow-aging, rejuvenated, etc). Flying Nightingale, aka Dolores Jones, was a low-powered healer who could fly and helped out with medivac in WWII. Recently, her powers were jumpstarted and rejuvenated her, and she's jumped back into the fight with the help of some modern high-tech pistols.

Stakeout is pretty bad, Crankcase is pretty good. Fortunately, I got Stakeout for $10 on Black Friday (well, Saturday), so I don't feel particularly ripped off.
Cute gag name, but an unexceptional mold not really worth plunking $4 down for on its own. Had to hit Hastings for Avengers Academy, spotted this guy while I was there and decided it was worth $4 for the name. They only had one other from the assortment, but I left it (Brake-Neck) on the shelf.

Corps of Discovery #1 - Tesla Boys!: Beacon! Gauntlet! Jack Ripley! And...Jim Smiley? Who's that German guy with the weird accent? And what will they make of an ancient Viking radio transmitter? Written by [livejournal.com profile] ununnilium.
A behind the scenes look at divinity in the ASH Universe. Not a rosterbook, but rather an examination of what defines a god, or what makes one a demon.
Finally went through an Imperious Task Force successfully with my oldest City of Heroes character. Cleared out the costume slot I'd been using for her "classic" costume to make room for this one (after saving the classic costume to file).
Also used a half-cape because I have them now. )
ETA: Got Artemis A through the ITF too. )
No books of note, but no new missing books, at least. )

A couple of redecos/remolds I picked up for a friend and reviewed before packing up. I might buy myself an Axor if I see it for $10 or less, but I'm gonna pass on Rescue Ratchet (nothing terribly wrong with it, just getting tired of red and white redecos of movie Ratchet).
I got a $1 knockoff pony, dyed it black and then ended up painting almost all of it anyway (the dye didn't take in the rainbow hair, so I combed in some ink).
No comparison picture, my Mach Kick is in a sealed box back in a corner of a closet. )
This time, Transformers Animated's Megatron gets the pony treatment.

Sadly, the "Damn. Ninjas," line from the ads did not appear in the movie itself. That aside, though, I enjoyed it for what it was: stylized swordplay soap opera. It follows the same basic template as last year's Ninja Assassin, with the world's greatest killer deciding he had to break away from his assassin clan and getting hunted across the world by his clan before clashing with his surrogate father figure. Meanwhile, oriental assassins clash with gunmen and there's a lot of blood. The main difference is that the setting is a "busted town full of broken people" in the late 1800s American West, and the visuals are stylized to the point of being allegorical. It does get a bit busy, especially with the three-way battle at the end between assassin clan members, corrupt U.S. soldiers and a traveling circus. It's just jam-packed with archetypes from both spaghetti westerns and Shaw Brothers chop socky, and a lot of the story gets told in shorthand (the protagonist's life story is sketched out in maybe a minute's worth of flashbacks, but "unpacks" to a pretty full tale if you know the conventions). But it also brings in some bits of non-standard weirdness here and there, like the combat courtship scene on Christmas Eve with Popeye music (well, a classical piece that most of us heard first in Popeye cartoons) as the background.

If you're thinking of seeing it, the R rating is mainly due to the blood aerosols and several scenes of attempted rape (along with the implication that the rapist in question was usually a lot more successful).

UPS doesn't accept shipments the day after Thanksgiving (or, at least, not under whatever level of service Diamond uses), so comics are on Thursday this week. My "hoped for, but don't expect to see all of" list is: Adventure #521, Secret Six #28, Antman & Wasp #2, Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes #2, Marvel Index v2 #8, Taskmaster #4 and the Hercules New Prince of Power TPB. I may also have some ordered-online Antarctic Press books in hand by Thursday, depending on how the holiday impacted their order fulfillment process.

I actually expect to have to find Avengers EMH at Hastings again, I expect Marvel Index to not show up (at which point I'm yanking it from my pull), and I have the Hercules TPB saved on my Amazon shopping cart because I have zero faith in Diamond's ability to actually deliver trades.
