EDIT: Oops, looks like I can't use more than one City of Villains code, so I've got two free account starters if anyone's interested. The DVD Edition did work for me, though.

If you're interested into getting into CoH or returning, I can do a referral and get a free month out of you using the CoV codes, and you'd get a month of play free, rather than just the two week limited-ability trial account.

Any takers?
JFK was famously quoted as saying, "We choose to go to the moon, and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard." But no one talks about the other things. Here's a quote from right before the famous one, taken from WikiSource:

But why, some say, the moon? Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

Note that the speech was given at Rice. So...how's Rice doing against Texas lately?

Turns out there's two mutually exclusive ways to assemble the abdomen (well, thorax) of Scalpel's robot-arthropod mode. Two sets of pegs that can't be used at the same time.
Ach, mein digits! )
Odd Lots has gotten in a bunch of old City of Villains box sets. The codes in them are STILL VALID. So it's $6 for a month, plus you get a CoH Heroclix and the various CoV paperwork (Rogue Isles map, instruction manual if you want one). I only bought one because I wasn't sure the code would work and figured the other stuff was worth $6 for me to get one copy, but if there's any left next time I'm in Topeka I'm cleaning them out.

When adding a line to my .procmailrc last night to kill those greetingcard.org spams, I goofed and the result was that everything from about 11PM July 8 to 7AM July 9 went to /dev/null. Granted, almost everything I usually get overnight is spam, but still....
Like pretty much everyone, there are contradictions in my nature. But two that are helpful to know are these:

  1. Despite my preoccupation with the fantastical and speculative, I am a rather hard-headed skeptic when it comes to drawing a firm line between what happens in fiction and what I accept can happen in reality.
  2. Despite my finely-honed critical faculties (or, at least, frequently-exercised faculties), I can enjoy something like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, because just as I can distinguish between fantasy and reality, I can distinguish between fun and good when the two don't overlap. ;) RotF is NOT good. But it's fun.

If a band were to be named The Molten Cheese Incident (and I wouldn't be surprised if one is already), what sort of music would you expect them to play?
