In short: the professor who was going to teach that "creationism as mythology" course at Kansas University got beaten by a couple of thugs last night. The story I linked doesn't mention it, but a radio version I heard said they broke some of his teeth.

That "Jesus is love" and "God loves you" crap loses more and more meaning each day... why do they even bother to put printed pages in the Bibles they sell? Not like people seem to be reading them.

Unsurprising. The man did everything but lean out his office window and say in a loud voice, "Gee, I hope no angry rednecks beat me senseless!"

I mean, cripes, pal. The whole "slap in their big fat face" thing - did they not cover "basic tact" when you were in the first grade? Sure, it would've been, but we highly evolved life forms usually know better than to poop where we eat.

So, I dunno. My sympathy level's not as high as it could be. Subject matter aside, he was an ass and somebody took him behind the woodshed for it. I'm indignant, but I'd be a lot more indignant if he hadn't gone out of his way to be offensive about his cause in the first place.
