Harry Potter Speculation: SPOILERS

I think Snape is still on the side of the angels. When Dumbledore was pleading with him, it wasn't "Please don't kill me, Severus" pleading. It was "Kill me so that Draco doesn't become irretrievably lost to evil, I know you people can't leave while I still live." And Severus could have done far worse to Harry in parting without worrying about depriving Voldemort of his rights. "The Master wants him alive" is classic double-agent speak for "I want him alive but blowing my cover now would probably get me killed by BOTH sides."

Oh, and for the record: I guessed right about Dumbledore dying, guessed wrong about the ID of the Half-Blood Prince (I was sure Riddle was the obvious red herring, but thought it might be Dumbledore), and was totally off the mark on Tonks (I had her pegged for a "and years later, Harry and Tonks finally found each other and were married" epilogue, although I suppose that's not impossible). Kinda disappointed Harry did the stupid Peter Parker at the end of the Spider-Man movie thing, although I doubt she'll let him keep her at arm's length for long.

I interpreted it as Dumbledore telling Snape to kill him because he was doomed anyway as a result of drinking that potion. I suspect that that's what they were discussing when Hagrid overheard them in the woods.

I'm sure the seventh book will contain a scene near or at the very end where Ginny weeps over Harry's bloody, broken, yet victorious body and whispers those Three Magical Words in his ear, upon which he will miraculously revive and embrace his future wife.

Oh, and I'm pretty certain that R.A.B. is Regulus Black, Sirius' younger brother.

I thought Harry's whole breakup speach was pretty pat (to be fair to JKR, so did Ginny). I was pretty disapointed that she let him go that easy.. Then, about 2 days later it hit me. This is Ginny we're talking about, she doesn't argue, she acts (she's also one of the least angsty characters around). It isn't a question of IF she follows him, just HOW.

I got just about the same read on the whole Snape issue you did (and just about everyone, on the web seems to more-or-less agree). I just wonder how much he knows about the "big plan".

RAB seems to be running about 75% for Regulus Black (I agree). Considering how much was set up in Phoenix, it would just about have to be.

How many Comic fans caught the name of the foolish and vain old lady, with the priceless artifacts? (You'd have to be a Walt Kelly lover, or maybe an X-man fan with a long memory).

Was a nice touch that, while she keeps Draco as a pretty hapless wanna-be evildoer (seriously, how many times has he ended up jinxed into a stupor all the way home), she gives him an early unambiguous "victory" over Harry. It's just enough to restablish him as a credible threat (though one WAY over his head).

Comming next: The quest for the Seven (well four or five really) Marks of Voldormot. Sound like a story we've heard before?

Tonks is a GIRL?!

It just occurred to me while I was making breakfast that Dumbledore wasn't just trying to save Draco, he was trying to save Severus. Dumbledore knew about the Unbreakable Vow, and probably surmised that if neither Draco nor Severus killed him, the Vow would kill Severus and then Voldemort would kill Draco.

Furthermore...maybe Dumbledore trusted Snape so much because there was an Unbreakable Vow between them?

I agree with dvandom... and i believe they had an Unbreakable Vow, and that at the end of the book Harry treats his promise as an Unbreakable Vow in an of itself. I also think that R.A.B. is Regulus, although it never said his middle initial in Order of the Pheonix. I still think it is so. Sirius is not gone for good, and neither is Dumbledore, because remember the saying. "He will never truly be gone from this school as long as there are those who are loyal to him." Sirius is not truly dead, because he would have become a ghost.

I was doing some rereading, and I know it is Regulus. How, you ask? In Order of the Pheonix, Sirius said that Regulus "got in so far, then panicked at what he was being asked to do and tried to back out." And on 609 (the letter) "I know I will be dead long before you read this but I want you to know that it was i who discovered your secret." Also Sirius remarked that Regulus wasn't important enough for Voldemort to kill personally. The letter strikes me as amusement and irony that someone thought to be so insignificant took something so important. I know i probably sound stupid or overly crazed, but the only things I have to do are read and theorize...
