We decided to scrap original plans to go to Sheboygan to check out a gaming shop there...an hour either way and not much else in town to go to. So we hit that other mall and other stuff in northern Green Bay (strictly speaking, the main mall is in Ashwaubenon) including a decaying strip mall.

The HVAC guy showed up and started working on the AC, but blocked in both cars, oops. Fortunately he hadn't hooked the truck up to anything, so he moved it out of the way right away. It turns out they were supposed to have called my parents back in April to schedule something like this, so it wasn't all them dropping the ball.

First stop was a brief checkup for Dad, I wandered around the strip malls near the medical center, but the most interesting thing was a Piggly Wiggly. However, I was thirsty and had never been in a Piggly Wiggly, so I went there and got a soda. I also saw a new (to me) form of cheese: cheese whips. Consider if you will a form of string cheese that looks more like a licorice rope in shape and thickness, but all bundled up in the bag like udon noodles.

While heading up to the northeast side mall (a short hop from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay), I saw a yard sculpture of a dragon made from multicolored curved pieces of metal. It looked like it was made from car fenders or something.

The East Town Mall is partially wind-powered, with several of those vertical wind turbines at the main entrance. One anchor is Hobby Lobby, so I of course went in there. Near that end is the mall branch of the local gaming store, which has several table set up in the mallway outside for smaller tournaments, and they can use up to 450 seats for bigger events. The product mix at the mall store is more kiddie, of course, with more of an "educational toy store" feel. Didn't end up buying anything at that mall, but it was nice shopping.

After tooling through downtown a bit and deciding not to go into Washington Commons Mall, we headed to the west side and a strip mall that reminded me of Logan Square in Lansing, if not as far gone. There was a Big Lots in the "coming soon" phase, though, so there's hope. Saw a Flash Gordon (1980s movie) action figure with football-like jeweled thing for $10 at the TJMaxx there, but passed on it. If they'd had Klytus, though, I'd have snapped it up. Will have to check the TJMaxx in Topeka tomorrow.

The TRU in town was kitty-corner to the strip mall, so I decided to check in on the off chance they'd gotten the "blindpack" Lego Minifigs in...and they had! Thanks to the cheat sheet of routing barcodes (not UPCs) on the package, I scored four of the five figures I wanted, plus one I wasn't looking for because its barcode was similar to the spaceman, and one grabbed at random once I'd cherrypicked everything on my list. :) I ended up with three Robots, two Luchadores, a Zombie, a Crash Test Dummy, an Indian and a Caveman (the last two weren't on my want list). Will try the list again tomorrow at the Topeka TRU if they have any in.

Also seen at TRU was the Kung Zhu accessory line, with battle armor and ninja gear for Zhu Zhu Pet hamsters, plus a battle arena.

Yyyyyeah.

Then we hit Sam's Club where I found the Superboy and the LSH cartoon sets for $4.88 each. I don't think they ever did release a complete season set (and I can't find it on Amazon or DeepDiscount, anyway), so $15 for the first season all told ain't too bad. Had lunch there (pretty good sausage pizza, actually, while Dad had a Nathan's hot dog), then went to the inevitable next door Walmart but found nothing there of interest.

Later in the afternoon, I went to the Toy Box (an educational toy store) with my sister and nieces, the last time I'll see them on this trip. I picked up a Playmobil set that's a soul-crushing office cubicle complete with binders. All it needs is a red stapler, eh? I occasionally get Playmobil sets I find to be disturbing on some level, you see.

Dinner was with Uncle Terry and Aunt Jody at Steve's Pizza Palace, an eatery from Dad's youth that's still around, if renamed slightly and remodeled a lot. VERY good traditional style thin crust pizza, of which I almost definitely ate too much. :) For straws, they give you long pipes of macaroni that are thick enough to not get soggy after half an hour or so in soda. Seriously, though, if there were a pizza place this good in Manhattan, I'd probably weigh ten pounds more than I do now.

The original plan to have Great-Aunt Ethel (aka Toni, a nickname she stole from my grandmother Rita, who had picked it because she liked the sound of it) fell through, so we went to visit her after dinner instead. (She'd had her grandson over the past couple of days and was tired of eating out.) Like all right-thinking people, she's a fan of Castle.

Anyway, now I digest tasty tasty pizza and start packing for another travel day. If they lose my luggage again, I'm assured they will ship it to me in Manhattan, and I won't have anything time-sensitive like gifts for other people in it this time. Assuming nothing goes wrong, I should be getting out of the airport by 3PM tomorrow. 2.5 hours travel time at a minimum, but I'll spend a couple hours shopping and having dinner in Topeka in the middle of that. When I get home, I'll unlock all these entries and provide links to them in the wrap-up post.
