The plane out of KCI was about 15 minutes late taking off. It was packed, but at least I was next to a thin guy and nowhere near any screaming kids. The other bit of veneer Frontier kept from Midwest was the in-flight cookies, so I at least didn't have to break into my emergency food. :) I made it to my connecting flight just in time...but my luggage didn't, and I ended up not getting it until 7PM. The gate person was waiting for me by name, and even got the pronounciation correct.

The hop from Milwaukee to Green Bay was uneventful and mostly empty, so I got a row to myself. I was on an Embraer 130, an interesting coincidence since I researched Embraer a little earlier in the week while working on my abandoned Vencedora piece (I was looking for Air Force uniforms from the 1960s in Brazil).

Anyway, after about half an hour and a lot of Computer Fail at the desk, I abandoned the luggage for a time and went to see my parents' new home, where I'm staying for the next few days. After dinner my sister and family were over and I played with the nieces while Dad, sis and brother-in-law transported dirt for a gardening project. As mentioned earlier, a laser pointer makes for a very entertained 4-year-old. The 2-year-old lost interest a little sooner.

Pronounciation

Hard to believe after all these years I never really thought about it. Probably because I'm used to the easily pronounceable "dvandom". How does one pronounce "Van Domelen"? Should I assume "vandom" is a hint?

Re: Pronounciation

Pretty much. Van DOMM el en, more or less. In fact, the original spelling of Van Dommelen makes it clearer. But usually people stumble over something like "vando melon" or "van DOME len".
