A lot of Christmas standards (please, these aren't "holiday" songs, with a few exceptions) simply aren't all that long. Sure, many of them have obscure additional verses that can be used to stretch them out to the radio standard 3:15 length, but a lot of Christmas songs on the radio are horribly padded out, repeating the entire song twice with an instrumental solo in the middle or something.

That's under the best of circumstances. Yesterday I heard a guy singing the SAME verse three times. I didn't remember the song, but I thought "This makes no sense..."

At least they could put in some of the Weird Al stuff to pad things out...

There's a version of "Sleigh Ride" I keep hearing which doesn't even use the "middle eight", but instead repeats the first part of the verse a couple of times.

I don't think any of the Weird Al stuff is totally holiday suitable, to be quite honest. World War III and Santa butchering his elves might get a few angry phone calls.
