[livejournal.com profile] foomf pointed out that if I cycle between two characters, I can play one while the other rests off any serious debt. Plus, of course, it lets me try multiple powersets, different servers, etc.

So, any recommendations? I do okay with the scrapper, since my usual style of "rush in and cycle through attacks until things fall down" play seems to work pretty well for them. Anything that requires a lot of keeping track of having balls in the air will not be too fun for me, due to information overload issues. And I can certainly play on a different server if someone'd rather game with me there at low levels.

ETA: After spending some time poking at the ParagonWiki, the Ice/Ice Tanker appeals to me. Probably Magic origin.

My recommendations are likely going to be very different from anyone else's, in part because I have a lot of trouble with melee archetypes.

Heroside, you might try a Kinetics Defender of some type--they're a little slow at first, but they're VERY solo-friendly on anything short of Elite Boss/Archvillain/Giant Monster enemies since they have a very powerful self-heal and nearly every Kinetics power both buffs the caster and debuffs one or more enemies. You won't do as much damage as a Blaster or Scrapper, but it's very 'safe.' Personally I favored Electricity, but anything except Energy (which sends victims flying too far for a lot of Kin powers to benefit you much) should work pretty well.

For Villains, Masterminds and Stalkers are the preferred classes of a lot of Soloists, but I never really got into either (my goofy Ninja Mastermind made it to 30, I've never had a Stalker get past level 11). I really enjoyed my Dominator, but it's very much a plate-spinning experience that may not be what you want.

(And incidentally, my global name is "@Cliff Hanger" thanks to a Lupin III kick I was on. Feel free to holler at me.)
