Time Capsules #11 - The Abyss Looks Back: Written by Dave Van Domelen, a piece of a book by Third Heroic Age psychopaths Max & Dex, on tactics to use when hunting superhumans.

(Last night's snippet exploded into an entire piece, abetted by the fact there's no quizzes in my class next week, so the time I normally spend writing quiz keys was open this morning.)

Californium bullet....

Yeah.

What's the half-life on that sucker again?
And how do you shield your mook against the radiation?

Well, there's a lot of supertech that goes into making that sort of thing work. :) And given that by 1993 Max and Dex were undead serial-possessor types who had lost the robot bodies into which their brains had been transplanted when their original bodies fell apart into unstable DNA goo...well, they're not really the best judges of what's a good idea to carry around, yes? ;)

Not to mention, there's less than a pound of the stuff in existance at any one time on the face of the planet, it has to be specially made, and it has a half-life that's short enough that you might not be able to make it into anything before it's become something less interesting. Isn't it like 8 hours or so?

On that order, yeah. Certainly not feasible in the real world. But all it takes is one atomic transmuter villain and another who can "freeze dry" isotopes....
