I've been trading Transformers by mail with someone in Japan for a few months now. Today I went to mail the latest batch to him...and found that the surface mail option to Japan has been eliminated. It's airmail, express airmail, or take your business elsewhere. Which meant that sending a box with $60 worth of Transformers would have cost me $38 as-is...or I could repack without any of the original packaging in a smaller box, pray that nothing gets crushed, and save maybe ten bucks.
Edit: Checked the main express shippers' webpages. DHL would only quote me two day express ($160 for my box) and UPS and FedEx wouldn't say jack without making an account, which I'm not in the mood to do. Maybe I'll bug an employee in person next time I'm near one of the relevant stores.

Mildly recommended. Working through some of the stack this afternoon, since the guy I needed to bug at work this afternoon wasn't in and I went home early. :)
