Well, I got some packets of Splenda yesterday, and today tried adding it to Diet Dr Pepper. Not exactly successful. Yes, it tastes sweet now, and it turn out I can taste sucralose just fine. But I can also still taste the nasty not-sweet aspect of the aspartame in it. And the aftertaste of the dextrose and maltodextrin filler in the Splenda. So it's both sweet and nasty, with a bitter aftertaste. Drat. (And it's been a generally annoying afternoon in addition.)

Which things, the diet drinks or the Splenda filler? I know the latter doesn't, but fountain drinks don't come with ingredient labels.

Almost all the diet drinks have a bit of saccharine in them - especially nutrasweet, which is photo-unstable and will change a bit over time to be less sweet.
