Finally getting around to watching the DVD of Super Inframan I got last week. And, reading the liner notes, I'm a bit surprised to find it wasn't MEANT to be a parody, but instead an honest "We can do this too!" ripoff of Ultraman and other proto-sentai stuff.
Of course, it didn't help that the villain's name was changed from Demon Princess Elzebub in the original to Princess Dragon Mom in the dub. Or was it? Listening carefully in her first scene, it sounds to me like it was supposed to be something along the lines of Dragonmon or Dragumon, a concatenation of dragon and monster. Still, every source I checked online that refers to the dub calls her Dragon Mom. Hmmmm.
Edit: Turns out the name is only used twice in the entire movie. And it's definitely Dragamon or Dragumon, depending on how you schwa it, when she says it herself. When a human uses it on the second occasion, it's Dragon Mum.
