It's starting to look like some sort of pathological whack-a-mole pattern is developing in school board elections, in Kansas and elsewhere. Here's the cycle:

1) Right-leaning school board rewrites science standards to crack the door open for creationism.

2) Voters wake up, vote the bums out.

3) New school board reverses the decision.

4) Voters go back to sleep.

5) Right-leaning candidates get elected to school board on Family Values issues, but claim they're not out to gut the science standards.

6) GOTO 1

Isn't there some clause that those religious fundies are supposed to follow...something about not lying?

Didn't the Pope just speak up and say, "Evolution is for-real, 'Intelligent Design' doesn't belong in schools, so shut up"?

The Pope has nothing to do with the majority of Christianity, and hasn't since Martin Luther nailed the 96 f^hTheses to the door of Wittenburg Cathedral.

So, no Protestant fundamentalist will care what he says. They generally think he's part of the Anti-Christ if anything.

exactly.
Isn't it sad when the Catholic Church is the voice of Reason?

NO ONE EXPECTS A SPANISH INQUISITION!

I gave up on christianity a very long time ago... nor do I wish to go back. I've read books on Shinto and Egyptian mythology and wear an Eye of Ra necklace. If the Christian idea of being saved is this, I don't want it.

Seen the previews for the next Trading Spouses on Fox? Some woman goes all psycho because the other family doesn't go to church. Kind of like how on Chappelle's skit Trading Spouses, that Leonard guy threatened to kill people and stuff.

It was a featured clip on The Soup, yeah. Woman who makes me look anorexic goes all spastic over godliness.

Hm. And this woman has to do with Christianity precisely what?

The woman's a nutbar, she'd be a nutbar if she was Jewish, Hindu, generic heathen, atheist, or even penguin. Nutbar is a technical term. (I tried to find 'religiously insane' in the DSM-4 and it's so vagued-out that it's not possible to find anything useful in there any more, but I've heard the phrase used to describe delusional people who use a warped version of religion as the core of their delusion.)

Well, she went off big time because the other family followed astrology and not Christ. Ranting and raving about that.

Nice defense though... defend it by generalizing about other religions to take the focus away. Her rants were specifically about the other family being "evil" because they weren't like her. Funny you left out Muslim though.... but they've always harbored the same image and excuses.

I've seen police videos of people on PCP which looked similar to her violent outbursts. They had a drug excuse, what did she have? The need to force others to live her way?

Besides, I've seen enough out of the Bush family, Fred Phelps, David Duke, Pat Robertson and others to know I want no part of it.

Again, what do these people have to do with Christianity? (Other than using it to justify their predatory sociopathy?)

I am generalizing about this woman's madness. You seem obsessed with the superficial manifestation of it, as expressed in one religion that you have a personal grudge against. Get over it. Her religion is the focus of her insanity but it is not the cause, nor is it rendered irrelevant or wrong because she is insane.
