First, I forgot to mention yesterday, but when visiting my sister for dinner I got to drive my Dad's Prius over. Fairly smooth, if a bit sluggish by comparison to my Mazda 3 (which is only natural considering the 3 is a compact and the Prius is mid-sized).
I started off by walking to the nearby Walmart (about a 15-18 minute walk) and then my Dad picked me up there and we headed down to Appleton, where Dad grew up.
The first stop was my uncle Terry and aunt Jody, we chatted for a while anc caught up. Terry was the Cool Uncle when I was growing up. Jim and Bob were too much of the "busy bringing home the bacon" mold, Marty's a beer-and-bowling guy (he's about to go semi-pro on the bowling, in fact...he had an average of 279 in the recent league), but Terry had wargames and knew what D&D was and so forth. He recently took early retirement for health reasons, though, and we're hoping he finds something to engage his interest so he doesn't turn into a chair potato.
Next was Toys R Us and the Appleton mall. No luck on Lego minifigs there either, sadly. Had Rocky Rococo's at the mall food court...pretty much how I remember it. A bit squishy due to being under heat lamps, but tasty. The mall didn't have much of interest, but Target is one of their anchors and I grabbed the new Halo Bloks Weapons Packs (one minifig and a bunch of weapons, plus a few pieces to make a weapons rack).
Then we went to visit my great-aunt, but she was out visiting her husband's grave and we went to the wrong cemetery to look. We'll see her at dinner with Terry and Jody on Monday, though. One of the merged-family headstones in the cemetery was "Last Buss," which made me wonder if they caught it or were under it.
IHNJIJLS Ashwaubenon.
No luck at various office supply and craft stores for the light gray pen quest, but worst case I can get one online ($1 for the pen, $3 shipping).
It looks like I stopped taking my allergy meds too soon, so grabbed another bottle of them at Walmart on the way back in.
