Suicide Squid is the result of a typo (for Suicide Squad) becoming a running gag on rec.arts.comics (and later, rec.arts.comics.misc). What brought this to mind was the fact that an issue of Suicide Squad is going to be part of next week's "Dead Week" offerings from DC.
