I was poking around the board game aisle at Walmart today and noticed that Battleship has gone hex-grid. And one of the new ships made for this layout appears to be an offshore platform of some sort with three pods coming out from a central hub. Weird.

I'm surprised by the hex-grid arrangement being introduced, but not so much by the "oil platform"-type addition to the game.

A similar game with more of a rock-paper-scissors dynamic might be amusing. Submarine sinks battleship, but coastal patrol blimp sinks submarine, but battleship sinks coastal patrol blimp...

Sort of a cross between Battleship and Stratego. With blimps.
