I didn't know they were still around. I know Toys R Us is barely hanging on.

Yeah, they closed pretty much every store in Kansas (except for an outlet in Newton) a few years ago when they entered "we're not dead yet" bankruptcy.

Online sales have been squeezing TRU out of the market for years.

Oh, sorry...antecedent issues. The "they" I was talking about was Kay Bee. The closest TЯU is still open, but it's an hour away in Topeka.

Wow. It's a bonanza of mixed feelings. On the one hand, no other chain of toy stores (or even chain of stores that have toys) has been more consistently disappointing to me over these many years. The one in the Bangor Mall, in particular, has been notable since the mall opened for its tiny footprint and terrible layout - my mother has refused to set foot in the place for as long as I can remember because it's so cramped and dark - and as the saying goes, you can find a better selection but you won't pay more.

On the other hand, good or bad, KB's been part of the background noise of my toy-buying life, as it were, for decades. The one in Bangor has been there since that mall opened, and apart from Sears and JC Penney I can't think of any other store in the mall (except maybe the Space Port) I could say that about. It's going to be weird to walk through that part of the complex and not see it there.

The local KB location has been a "Buckle" for years. Just what the mall needed, another clothing store.

But where am I going to buy Ronin Warriors toys now? D:

Crudmuffins.

So, thoughts. Should I head to the KB at Concord Mills ASAP and buy stuff up, or wait in anticipation of a big going-out-of-business sale?
