Boom. Topps claims to be seeking a new company to make the WK properties, and that they'll continue various promo support for now, but things look bad.
There's a discussion on it on the Heroclix lj community; there seems to be a lot of hatred for Wizards of the Coast, and the idea they might pick it up seems to be anathema.
But then, who else would? Someone suggested McFarlane Toys - theoretically, yeah, but a) McFarlane refused to allow them to make an Indy HC of Spawn since they wouldn't go with his ideas of poseability and cloth capes, etc; b) DC and Marvel wouldn't let him near their licenses.
Funnily, I had no idea Horrorclix had been cancelled until this news broke; but as far as I'm aware, I'm the only person who ever buys anything from it here - and I can't even get any of my close friends to play using my stuff, let alone find another player..
Ok, so I'm a disgrace to the nerd community I'm sorry, but isn't Wizards of the Coast the people who do D&D? Why wouldn't they be on the short list for this stuff? And what would be wrong with MacFarlane? I don't know enough about the politics of it to see what's wrong with what, to me, just looks like another corporate merger.

Any word on what's to happen to the BattleTech or Shadowrun properties?
