The comment on the original blog, "Maybe they thought it said 'a bomb'," reminds me obliquely of one of my favorite road signs, which, even 10 years later, I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of.
I don't know if it's still there, but when I lived in northern California, there was an exit ID sign on I-880 South in downtown Oakland that said,
A STREET DOWNTOWN 3/4 MILE
I know what it really means, but I always liked the idea of a semi-random highway interchange.
