On hearing that the English Department here at K-State had done a conference on Science Fiction, I poked around a bit to see if anyone was currently doing scholarly research on it. As the Cultural Studies Faculty Page shows, the answer to that is yes. But page down a bit to Professor Potts...what an interesting juxtaposition of topics. :) (The page her link leads to isn't quite so interesting, sadly.)

Well, she does make it literal in the epilogue, at least. Unless you think Eliza and her beau opened up a brothel. :)

(Oh, and I figured out a way to tell PPG-as-historical-prostitutes story after all, without it being more wrong than I'll do. Muahaha.)
