After a seeming eternity out of print, with the only copies available being from book resellers at rather high prices, D'Aulaire's Book of Norse Myths is back in print, yay! This, along with their book on Greek myth (purchased a few years ago) was a big formative part of my childhood. When I was 6, I found a book on the myth of Thor vs. Utgard-Loki, and wanted to read more about this Thor guy. But, not knowing about the distinction of mythic type yet, I grabbed D'Aulaire's book on Greek myth instead. I found their Norse book soon enough, though, and I still have vivid memories of its stories. Even watered down for little kids, they can be pretty weird. Needless to say, when Amazon recommended it to me (remembering earlier searches for it) when I went to check up on the status of my Transformers order from them, I snagged it (and also grabbed the new Godzilla remasters to take advantage of free shipping).

Ooh..didn't know there was a Norse book...the Greek one was my bible!

(btw, as I'm sure you know, it's the time of evil again).

Yeah, forgot about that. But DDD's prices on the Godzilla discs were a bit higher than Amazon's to start with, and being able to get free shipping on the book made up the rest of the difference. :) So I'm not rending my clothes over it.

Now if they'll just re-print After Man and Man After Man, I'll be a happy social recluse.
