I think I found the bug that screwed up my PDF conversions. Each chapter after the first has been set to start at a page other than 1, so they could be printed out and put together. But the way in which ClarisWorks 3.0 did this apparently confuses the PDF printer. By specifically telling it to print chapter 2 from pages 14-18 (the pages it covers), it successfully converted the file.
