The 3rd gen iPod Shuffle has some of the controls integrated into the earbud cord. Which means, for people like me who don't like earbuds (seriously, even the higher-end ones give me pain after 30-45 minutes), the product is unusable unless there's a spare set of controls hidden on the back that they're not telling us about. I've avoided replacing my 1st gen Shuffle with a 2nd gen because the 2nd gen isn't really any better, just cheaper. And now the 3rd gen is actually WORSE. Bleh. At least I have my Sansa as a backup if my 1st gen dies. It doesn't work with iTunes, but manual file transfer isn't exactly hard.
ETA: Oh, I can see them offering an adapter jack or something to put the controls back on the base, but that'll kill the small-size aspect and probably cost an extra thirty bucks.
