Campus seems to have only suffered a blip, since everything turned off but the network was still up and I didn't have to reprogram my radio's presets. But power went off around 6AM or so at home, and is still off. Once I felt it was safe to drive (i.e. about 4:30 PM) I came in to have dinner. My car is now a rolling fridge. A more complete bloggy accounting once things are over, I've been making notes on my PDA (but can't synch it at work).

Estimate when I called at 4PM: 1-2 days before I have power back at home. At least I can be reasonably sure of power at work tomorrow, and I have some leftover work-lunch stuff I can use up. The whole east side of town is also down, which means no Wal-Mart to pick up more food, and I'd be surprised if the stores nearer me are outside the blackout.

Anyway, I was warm enough at home under the covers and bundled up, I should be okay for one night. If the time to completion is more like 2 days, though, I may need to find someone to crash with, or go way out of town to a motel.

Update: according to the power company's outage map, the only parts of town that have power are campus and the southwest corner. Might be stopping by Target before going home, as I just called them, they have power. And may even have some batteries left, although I wouldn't bet on it.
