I've been experimenting with the "Mac & Cheese made by dumping Velveeta into pasta" thing lately. The instructions on the box say to use 8 ounces of Velveeta with 6 ounces of pasta. 6.4 ounces is my usual "dose" of pasta, so I tried 4 ounces of Velveeta just to be on the safe side.
Kraft's instructions are insane. With a mere four ounces of Velveeta, I had a major excess of goopy molten cheese. Tonight I tried three ounces, and it was about right (although I also added some cubed pepperoni and a half ounce of grated romano...if you're going with JUST pasta and Velveeta I'd recommend two ounces of cheese). Eight ounces would have been an utter disaster, in the "would you like some pasta with your goo?" sense.
