Saw an internist today, name of Dr. Poell (pronounced "pale"). He's pretty sure I have type 2, and is proceeding with treatment on that assumption. I got a prescription for Metformin (500mg, twice daily) to start
out with...fortunately I managed to find my prescription benefits card after some digging in my wallet, so I only paid $4.14 for the month's supply.

I got scheduled for a diabetes education session over at Lafene, the medical building that houses student health stuff, tomorrow afternoon. It means missing another group meeting, but at least it's within walking distance, so I don't need to mess around with parking on campus in the afternoon. There I will get the whole spiel, and learn how to use the glucose monitor. Dr. Poell doesn't care for the arm-testing models, so I guess I get to poke my fingers until the technology improves.

Dr. Poell also pointed out, as others have to me in various fora, that exercise itself isn't going to generate much weight loss, and that diet is the main thing there. BUT, exercise is still important overall, even if the calories burned at the time are small (also, I know it raises overall metabolic rate, so it helps you burn more while sitting still afterward).

Unfortunately, amidst all of this, I'm not getting anything specifically done about the indigestion problems that made me go to the doctor in the first place. :/
