Got home. Tail dragging. Just staying awake long enough to make a quick snack so hunger doesn't keep me from sleeping.

Then I hear a tape of an interview on Headline News. Soledad O'Brien talking to a FEMA guy. Trying to get some answers out of him about why it took FEMA so long to, well, do ANYTHING. It took her three or four tries to break through his steamroller script delivery, and when he finally DID answer the question, he laid the blame squarely on Louisiana. "We depend on the states for information." In other words, everyone at FEMA works in isolated cubicles with televisions and radios utterly forbidden, so no one could find out what everyone else already knew. And what the state officials in Louisiana probably didn't think they had to tell FEMA about, since it was ALL OVER EVERY NEWS CHANNEL.

So much for sleep. I'll try anyway, although now that Dubya's on TV I'm gonna have to turn it off....

People are gonna wanttheir personal limemights. Organizations will pass blame. Michael Moore is attention-hogging once again(a man who claims to want to help the people? I see no dime coming from him!) and Cindy Sheenan still continues her personal crusade for glory. Help is arriving late. They KNEW this hurricane was coming. They had every advance warning. You can't tell me they didn't expect massive damage, it's a HURR-I-CANE! Did they expect to be taken to Oz?

Bush will limelight, congressman are thanking each other. Judge Rehnquist died, so the media had to jump all over that because NO isn't news anymore.

And Kanye West had to mouth off. Geez, has Hollywood slapped an "idiot" requirement on becoming a celebrity? I hold little hope of celebs doing good here. For every one that gives from his own pocket, 10 more will do charity benefits that ensure no personal cash is sucked from their pockets. Besides, they're too busy worrying about the plight of the people in some small country no one's ever heard of. The US? So what if we buy their CDs and made them rich in the first place! I'm sure Bono couldn't care less about this. and even those celebs who do care... most won't give.

then Paypal locked up the funds that SomethignAwful.com collected. Almost $30,000. Locked and denied to the Red Cross because Paypal feels like it. Oh, they want the money to go to the United Way instead. Of course, Paypal is tied to the United Way, a shoddy "charity" at best.
