Price tag seen on Dr Pepper 2-liters at Target (may be paraphrasing):

Lower than Advertised!

2/$3

$1.49 each. - Prices good 2/15/09 to 2/22/09

Note, also, $1.49 is the regular price, so they forgot to raise the price before proclaiming this sale.

Snort! Having worked retail, I see that scam a lot!

One of the car dealerships here in town once, as an experiment, marked up a used car on the lot, which they'd had and failed to sell for some time, and put a huge banner thing on the windshield cheerfully declaring (specific prices made up, as I've long since forgotten):

Price Increased! Was $1549
$1695

I was told that this generated considerable interest and moved the car off the lot within a few days.
