The wireless access they got us is a crippled version of the campus wireless, that doesn't even work in all of the buildings we're using, and certainly doesn't work in the dorm. Joy. Otherwise, a nice place. Can't swing a dead beaver without hitting a Tim Horton's, though.

I stepped into the middle of a domestic dispute when I went up north, caught in the Manichaean turmoil between Tim Horton's coffee and Dunkin' Donuts coffee. I found both perfectly reasonable, significantly diverting in their own ways.

You may as well just get a temporary Verizon wireless connect for the times you're on these campuses. Otherwise it will ALWAYS fail.

I don't understand why these conferences...for scientists...seem to never be connectable.

The summer ones are generally at universities, which are more and more reluctant to allow any outsiders (read: legal liabilities) into their systems. So they hobble and limit our access. Mind you, last summer's would have been fine if I'd had the EEE, I was more limited by hardware.

It used to be they'd open up computer labs for us, or provide dozens of terminals in some other way, but laptops are so much an assumption now that they figure they don't need to provide much.

Seems dumb to me, though.

BTW, there's a Batman Tech show on History tonight. Assuming Ut, reminds me, I'll be digi-recording it for him. You can get it too if you want (when you're back).

What really weirds me out on a subconscious letter is the ABSENCE of American flags. It's like a hissing pipe...you don't really notice the noise after a while until it stops.

Hmm, in some places (hotels and certain businesses) you'll actually see a fair amount of American flags -- trying to cater to American customers, no doubt. But I've never been to Alberta, so don't know how common it is over there.

hmm..history listed it as new (the psychology one was listed as a repeat).

Well, I got it if you want it anyhow.
