Actually, the gang all passed their OWLs in book 6, so they have the Wizarding World's equivalent of a high school education. If Harry still wanted to be an Auror, he would have needed to pass some of the more advanced tests, but something tells me that he got enough practical experience to ace those without a need for further book-larnin'.
