I think that Kreacher's elf-attack-squad decided that they had it up to HERE with washing dishes and went berserk the year Harry, Ron, and Hermione had to repeat because they couldn't do anything without a High-School education.
I agree with you though...A lot was left out. Of course, that's going to be prime fodder for the fanfic crowd, but still, what does it all boil down to? Why wasn't Dobby among the dead Harry brought back (unless he was and I missed it...I'll check) and why did Harry think that the wand would be his if he died a natural death? It seemed to just transfer allegiance based on who got disarmed, so it could switch on him later without him knowing about it.
Lots of open holes...still a good book, though...
I regret Dobby's death...I wanted a Harry to become an Auor, and have a Harry Potter/Dobby buddy cop show!
