There's a bit in Transformers the Movie, after the battle for Autobot City has been going on for hours (it's gone from day to night to day again), and Megatron says something to the effect of "Let the carnage begin!" (Sorry, can't remember the exact quote, and I'm at work so I can't just check my DVD.)
My reaction on seeing that scene the first time was, "Wait, if it's just beginning now, what was all that killing before?"
Of course, it was meant to imply that Megatron considered the deaths of half the pre-movie cast as just a warm-up, and now he was going to get serious. That no matter how horrible his deeds of the previous several hours, the next several hours would be far worse, because he's overcome most of the defenders and obstacles.
Bush appears to have won the election.
Let the carnage begin.
