About 20 minutes ago, I started smelling a funny "burning plastic" smell. Sniffed all around the apartment, assured myself I hadn't left the oven on or any plastic near the heat vent, etc. Then, just as I'd decided maybe it was coming from a neighboring apartment, I heard a pop from the general vicinity of my heat pump, and the AC stopped blowing.

There Are No Coincidences. So I checked by turning the AC down some, to see if it had just reached the desired temp and stopped on its own. No dice. No blower even when I put it on "always on fan" mode. Checked the circuit breaker. Still no AC.

Unlike last time my AC died, it's not unseasonably cool. It's warm and stormy, so opening a window might cause more problems than it solves. At least I have to be at work by 7:30 AM and stay until around 6 PM, giving the landlord time to get it fixed. Didn't think I'd be GLAD of that bit of schedule fun.

I think I might just hit the sack early (like, in half an hour or so) in hopes of getting some sleep before the apartment gets too warm. And my fan is still at the office.
