What is this "balance" you speak of? Seriously, I've never balanced my checkbook. I look at the statement each month to make sure all five or six checks are accounted for and I didn't incur any mystery fees, and that's it. :) Almost all of my purchases are by credit card (or cash for stuff under a few bucks). I may be somewhat behind the technological curve in some ways, but using checks often enough that you need to actually balance the checkbook is something my parents do, not me.
