Sucks on almost every level. Bad writing, bad voice work, indifferent animation, lame plot devices...are they trying to make Superman Returns look better by comparison?

Superman: Brainiac Attacks

Game, comic or show?

Show, just on tonight. Non-Dini STAS movie. They got some other guy to do Luthor, and he does it horribly. As if Luthor were possessed by the Joker or something.

These days, I hate everything I love. Thus "them" screwing up the DCAU (cancellations and so forth) elicits little more than a "meh" reaction from me.

Non-Romano, too. Susan Blu got the voice direction job. The whole thing strikes me as a last ditch franchise-milking to tie in with the upcoming movie. Capizzi did most of the writing and directing, it looks like.

Watching it now..was hoping I'd find a post from you that says it got better.

Powers Boothe (of Deadwood) is playing Luthor. He played Grodd in JL/JLU. I wouldn't but any of the blame on him. I imagine they wanted him to do a goofy Hackman/Spacey type of delivery.

Sadly Tim Daly, the voice for S:TAS is back, but the dialog he's given is weak.

IMDB lists Curt Geda as the Director. He's one of the Timm-team, having done S:Tas, B:Tas, BBeyond, and Zeta Project, also X-Men: Evo...but he's also doing the Ultimate Avengers cartoons, so....

Dini isn't the be-all of the DCAU...JLU-wise, McDuffie's where's it at, and it's really Bruce Timm's sensabilites that run through the DCAU.

HOWEVER, the guy they have writing this (and the exec producer) has such winners as "THE Batman", "Savaqe Dragon", and "EXTREEME!!!! Ghostbusters" on his list.

I imagine this was rushed out to coincide with the movie. Note that the S shield is smaller than DCAU standard. And the fortress appears rather movie-esque.

Unimpressed, yes.

The whole Supes/Lois tension was sucktacular.

The phantom zone was nice.

If not much of a prison. I mean, Superman was able to just wish up a portal for reasons inadequately explained.

And, of course, everything that might have been considered a forward plot development was undone by the end. TOTAL wimpout.

Of course.

And I did NOT see how Supes got out - but it's not much of a prison if you can just want to go home.
