Unsurprisingly, my request to have yesterday's "delivered when everyone would be at work" UPS package held for pickup was not passed on, so after waiting in line at the depot, I found my box was out on a truck. Same driver, same deciding on his own authority to require a signature and not leave it at the door. The guys at the depot are fine, but this seems to be one of those drivers that will Just Not Work Out. And the phone drone was hopelessly misinformed about the hours for pickup. So now I have the local place's number programmed into my phone, and will not be bothering to call the national number ever again.

Meanwhile, I now get to run out to the depot again tonight after dinner to get my box. At least there's no storming tonight.

Update: Got it, built it, reviewed it.

I've put a note on my door saying Dear UPS man, please leave the package here for me. Thanks, [signature]

Usually they are pretty cool about that.

And them not getting the Hold for Pickup is odd. Unless they couldn't find your package on the truck before he left. Or if somehow your HFP got misplaced.

I used to pre-load for them. It's the very definition of organized chaos.

My guess is that the phonedrone never passed the HFP on, because she didn't like that I was audibly annoyed at her inability to do jack squat to help me.

Which is why I use the online HFP form.

There should be instructions on how to do it on the "We missed you" label.

Nope, just the useless national phone number. Anyway, now I have the local number, I know the management there is clueful.
