Goblet of Fire musing (no spoilers)

I plan to see the movie this afternoon.

But it struck me in reading various animation groups last night that there's one group of people looking forward to Goblet of Fire even more than the Potter fans.

Disney haters.

Why? Because Chicken Little has been #1 movie for two weeks, because it suffered almost no drop-off between weeks 1 and 2 (compared to most movies these days). And they're just foaming at the mouth demanding that SOMETHING come along and knock the Disney film off the top spot. There's gleeful rubbing of hands in anticipation of Potter taking so much of CL's demographic that the cartoon will be knocked into the cellar.

Now, keeping in mind that I am incredibly geeky and should only have the right to say the following in the direst of circumstances: dudes, get a grip.

Some people should be killed.

Can we start with Eisner?

I wasn't even aware there was a new movie. Now, I don't read the books(not terriblly interested, really.... not like I even have time to read the books I DO own) or follow the films, but my sister does, and even at that, I've seen no TV ads. Is the popularity fading?

My only problem with Disney is that they've basically forgotten Darkwing Duck. even gone so far as to hype a superhero identity for Donald in its place(a cheap Duck Dodgers knockoff identity). If they put DWD out on DVD, then I'll stop hating them. I don't care if Eisner makes the call. He'll get my full support if he does(and back when Roy Disney was collecting email responses via online form over Eisner, I told HIM that).

I honestly dislike Disney and Harry Potter equally.

The question being is there any movie coming out soon that is even worth watching? I have a feeling I'd be better off watching the Strong Bad E-Mail DVDs than what's coming to the box office.

Update: Harry Potter took in an estimated $101M this weekend. The #2-12 movies took in about $70M combined. Ow. I Walk The Line (Johnny Cash biopic) came in second in the low twenty millions. Chicken Little dropped to #3 with about $15M, and a three week total of $99M so far, which is pretty respectable.
