Off to Utah!

In about an hour I get in a van to drive to the airport to fly to Salt Lake City for the AAPT conference. I'll be getting back about 3 AM Friday. I should have reasonable net access while I'm at University of Utah, but certain things (like comics) will be delayed until I get back.

Meanwhile, my attempt to get copies of my work email forwarded to a backup account Just In Case has turned into its own problem, as despite belaboring the point of wanting COPIES sent, the IT guys set complete forwarding (i.e. no copy retained in the main account). Whee. This sort of crap is why I don't like taking trips that last more than a day.

too bad the university doesn't allow you to access your university account via web.

They do, but the interface does not work on my palmtop.

Some people working for IT departments deplore the asinine political crapola that goes on in universities, with petty people demanding petty things.

Others are just f*ing incompetent and wouldn't last a week in a real job.

Since you're not the type to demand petty things, I suspect you've found yourself an incompetent!

I expect he just saw "forward" and latched onto that. So far, though, only one mail that I'll need to re-redirect later (a TA's class schedule).

BTW, my PDA is perfectly capable of grabbing POP. It's just that the department doesn't allow POP for security reasons, so I doubt a blackberry would help. Turns out I can access my eyrie.org account just fine too, but there's NO WAY I'm gonna try doing emacs webpage editing on a tiny screen with weird wrapping (I could eliminate the wrap issue by making the font even smaller, but then I wouldn't be able to read it).
