Not really a comment on the reviewed toy itself, but re: your Bumblebee comment, they probably HAD to make a new mold, as his existing one is being used to death. If you put up all the recolor/remold variations it would look like a monochromatic seeker display at this stage.
The drone can indeed be stored in the cab. I figured it out shortly after I got it and made an update video. You have to open up the gun on his right arm:
