Now there's an interesting omission....

I've been reading the ParagonWiki pages on the villainous "epic archetypes", the Arachnos Soldier and the Blood Widow. As NPCs, you never see a male Widow (Blood Widower?), and I can't recall seeing a female Bane Spider or Crab Spider. But there's no mention on the wiki that I can find as to whether PCs in those archetypes are gender-limited (and the costuming entries are almost entirely blank for them).

I've never told you about Toxo-Spider? Yes, the PCs can be either gender.

You probably told me before I cared about CoH. ;) Thanks, I've added a bit to the wiki entries for Arachnos Soldiers and Widows to clarify that genders are not set by archetype.

The thing is, Bane Spiders (though not necessarily Wolves and Crabs) and Fortunata *were* originally gender-limited in universe; there's an arc explaining what they are and how they got that way in the 40s. They were opened up to either gender when they became archetypes, because more players would be unhappy to be "forced" to play a particular gender than to see "The Bane of the Heart" contradicted. (Personally I was mildly annoyed to see the change, but will admit freely it was probably the better decision from a pure business POV.)
