Replace the vest with a long-sleeved cardigan in the same color and add a watch, and you pretty much have what I wore at work today. I like how I manage to get a bit of a paunch on there too, although the hero version is still a bit too ripped. :)

Trivia note: the original Solar Max costume from 1989 was me in red shirt, black pants, wraparound shades and a gadget bandolier (my hair was longer and I had more of a muttonchops thing going on, though...and no gray in there). Doctor Dave is a Gravity/Radiation Controller, which is pretty close to the original Solar Max as well. Heh.

I like the cocked eyebrow in the headshot--it's a nice "I know something you don't" expression. And yay for paunchy graying superheroes!

The paunch seems to come with the sweater vest rather than being built into the underlying torso, and there's probably a paunch in some of the other clothing bits. There's a few balding looks, though. Sonics are one of the power sets.

I saw sonic, but sonic blasters seem to be banshee-like screamers. I'm thinking more along the lines of someone who throws earthquakes and shockwaves around...think Terra from the New Teen Titans, I guess, without the ability to fly around on a chunk of rock.

Earth Control (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Earth_Control) mainly does things like make rocks surge up around a target and trap/crush them, and there's a "stamp your foot and make a spiky shockwave" Stalagmites power too. TerraRyze does that stuff.

(Is there a FX-based guide to character building out there? I poked around the official message boards a bit over lunch, but the character guides I saw were mostly concerned with how different power sets interact from a character power POV.)
