Street date? Whuzzat?

So, in theory, Bolt was coming out on BluRay/DVD two-pack on Sunday, with the regular DVD release on Tuesday. Wal-Mart had both out for sale today. Street dates are, apparently, for other people. ;)

Not a surprise, I'm guessing.

What are the distributors going to do-- stop shipping future product to Walmart and thus have those future products tank?

I think street dates are only enforced for video games, which is why some stores wait even 1-2 days AFTER street dates to put games on the shelves. Video game publishers are pretty hardcore about that, I think the fee is $5000 per COPY sold before street date.

Lesser game releases might overlook it, but something like Halo or GTA, well, that's definitely going to be fined.
