First Looks for March 2
Superman: Strength #3 (of 3): DC - And so it ends. And wow, the art is
even worse than before. The story is okay, but not good enough for me to
really recommend this book. Very mildly recommended. $5.99/$8.00Cn
Marvel Team-Up #6: Marvel - Cap and Black Widow are the featured players
this time. Kirkman takes the opportunity to wrap up some of his plot threads
from the previous Cap book. Looks like this arc is wrapped up, although
there's several intentional danglers of consequence. Recommended.
$2.25/$3.25Cn
eXiles #60: Marvel - Ahhhh, Age of Pocky. Of which I know almost
nothing, so this issue doesn't really resonate with me. Mildly recommended.
$2.99/$4.25Cn
Captain America and the Falcon #13: Marvel - A two part arc wraps up the
series. Big psychological turning point story, a pity there's only one more
issue. Jurgens does a good job on the art. Recommended. $2.99/$4.25Cn
According to Midtown Comics' online list, I should be getting: Fallen
Angel #19, Superman: Strength #3 (of 3), Rising Stars #24 (of 24), Captain
America and the Falcon #13, eXiles #60, Marvel Team-Up #6, Gold Digger #61.
Love As A Foreign Language vol 2 is also on the list, but my back-ordered vol
1 (I found out about the book late) hasn't arrived yet, so I might just set
vol 2 aside until I get vol 1.
Dave Van Domelen, "I swear...I'm not usually this useless." "Oh, I know. You think I'm in this guy's league? Evil Iron Man? That's WAY beyond
me." - Black Widow and Spider-Man

Though...Nightcrawler was a total badass, in that he was raised by Mystique and was a bit more ruthless for it. (Teleporting with people's fingers and heads)

AOA was the second REALLY big summer crossover event that I was involved with in my comic collecting, "Reign of the Supermen" being the first. I read a fair bit when I was younger (Tranformers, FF vs. X-men, Rom: Spaceknight) and for some reason put them away and stopped reading until the death of Superman sometime in High School. AOA was, I felt, a pretty tight package exploring a completely diffrent timeline based on ONE event going wrong (initially, at least.) Part of it, I'm sure, is because I dig that kind of stuff. Time travel, and the repercussions thereof, is fascinating to me. I really get into a good "Back to the Future" or, sweet mercy, "12 Monkeys" just because of the various arguments they present for the ramifications of travelling through time, whether it's the former "you can fix things" mentality, or the latter "Events will unfold as they already have" scenario. Maybe I'm just a downer, but I really love a movie like 12 Monkeys, where the movie revolves around this big, heroic effort to change things, only to find that the hero's actions are setting things up to happen exactly as they already have.
Although, again, I'm digressing. My point here was just intended to be about AOA, and mostly directed at Dave. First off, having picked it up, don't judge AOA based on it's representation in Exiles. I read it and I'm still going "wtf?" Secondly, I understand the revulsion to major summer crossovers. Don't feel like undertaking any extreme measures to collect and read the entirety of AoA. But if you happen to find yourself with access to it, I think you'd be doing yourself a bit of a disservice by not at least checking it out. That's all.
