2008 Lego wishlist!

Aside from Exo-Force, I rarely get Lego sets bigger than the $10 size, and even with Exo-Force I tend not to go above the $15 price point. So, it should come as no surprise that I'm mainly interested in little sets here. Now, I may not buy all of these, and some may not come to stores near me, but I'll at least be on the lookout.

Edit: went to Target after dinner, they'd started setting out the new stuff (and I got some TF Legends sets too).

Indiana Jones: Nice line, and the one small set (Motorcycle Chase) will probably find its way into my apartment. I've only seen the bigger sets so far, though, and I'm really not into scenery sets in general, lacking the display space. Edit: Got the Motorcycle Chase.

Mini Sets: The $5 successors to the X-Pods are getting two new sets added into the mix this winter, Mini Trains and Mini Vehicles (a car carrier truck). Both will be mine.

Exo-Force: Nothing in the catalog that I haven't already seen (and bought, except for the Hybrid Rescue Tank). The later wave probably won't show up until the next quarter, or even summer.

Bionicle: Hm, instead of the previous pattern of alternating a set of six villains and six Toas, the storyline has the Makuta followers corrupting half the good guys (red, blue and black go evil). Flight is the theme this time, with jetpacks for the Toas and batwings for the Makutans. The Matorans are similarly split, and "combine" with the Toas according to the ads, although it looks like they just cling to the backs. I've seen the red and black Toa briefly in stores, and passed for now. None of the corrupted Toa appeal to me, but I'll probably grab Toa Kopaka (white). On the other hand, the good Matorans are pretty bland, I might just pick up the black one, Kirop (black). There's also some bigger sets, but I rarely get those unless I see 'em on deeeep clearance. Edit: Got Toa Kopaka. The only had the boring good Matoran sets.

Technic: I rarely see any of these in stores, but if the Mini Forklift shows up, I'll snag it to add to my other Technic forklifts. This is the song, written for the chase scene....

Star Wars: More troop builder sets are out, and both the Rebel Scout Speeder and the oh-so-kyute Imperial Dropship look good. There's also some Extended Universe stuff, like the Rogue Shadow that I don't want to buy, but felt like pointing at and laughing. Edit: Well, they had the larger sets in, but blank space for the troop builders. Ah well, dropped enough cash tonight as it is.

I just got that catalog today. Barring some financial boon that would let me get the NXT kit, I want some of those Power Functions parts.

...I saw that Rogue Shadow yesterday (and today)...What is up with that? Where does that fit in the SW universe?

As far as the Indy stuff goes, the only one that I really didn't like was the Lost Tomb. That Temple escape one is just AWESOME. Plus you get a Doc Ock minifig with it!!! (Throw me the idol. No time to argue. Throw me idol, I'll throw you the whip.)

Granted I have NO place to store that sprawling behemoth (considering I have the Collector's Edition Star Destroyer on the dining room table). I'll probably just settle for the two vehicle sets.

Rogue Shadow is from "Star Wars: the Force Unleashed" computer game.

And you could build the Temple Escape onto the surface of the Star Destroyer! "Han Solo will not escape with the idol! Send out the TIE Fighters and the giant snakes!"

Heh. Got my catalog today as well, as we have similar wants. I've already been hunting for the motorcycle chase (Walky picked it up the other day), and I want those mini trains and mini vehicles sets, as well as the trooper dropship. I've nabbed the three new robot side sets from the Exo-Force line, although I may pass on the Bionicle. I've seen all the new ones at TRU, which is weird that they're starting the next wave so quickly. Didn't they JUST get the underwater Toa out recently?

Also, just caught the edit, where'd you find the motorcycle chase? I haven't even seen tags up for it anywhere.

Target. Mine is in the middle of a reset.

Nuts. I was just at Target today, and they were clearly in the process of straightening/emptying aisles for a reset. Oh well, I'll get one at some point.

Hm. Motorcycle Chase is a bit overpriced at $10, I think. Then again, minifig-intensive sets tend to be more expensive in general.

Yeah, but it is, as of right now, the ONLY way to get a Sean Connery Lego figure. That alone is worth $10.

Actually, the $10 bad guys are more Makutas* (it's actually a species name).

(*Not terribly sure what the plural of "Makuta" would be... Makuta? Makutas? Makutae?

... I like "Makutae" myself)

Well, Toas corrupted by the Brotherhood of Makuta or whatever. I'm using Toa as a size class more than anything else here, though.

And having built Toa Kopaka, I can confirm that the Matorans just peg onto the backs, it's not really a combination build or anything. Just a Master-Blaster relationship. Which also means that pretty much any Matoran can ride any Toa.
