Doctor Who realization

The Master is so bitter and has such a hate-on for the Doctor because he failed to get his PhD.

He has a Master's Degree... in... SCIENCE!!!

Meanwhile, the Bachelor spends his regenerations being a contestant on a reality show where he gets his pick of Companions.

And let's not even think about the poor sap knows as The Graduate.

He's banging Anne Bancroft.

You know, from the way James Bond never seems to age and keeps on changing his appearance—and the way Blofeld never looked the same way twice either—it's painfully clear that Bond and Blofeld are both Timelords.

And so is M. He just changed genders in his latest regeneration, the way the rumors at one point claimed the Doctor was going to.

I think there've actually been a couple of James Bond fanfics with that premise.

the way the rumors at one point claimed the Doctor was going to.

There's only one woman who could play the Doctor and that person is Tilda Swinton

Someone should seek out Curse Of The Fatal Death for canon discussions of this very topic.

Actually ... Joanna Lumley did a pretty good job of it.

As it happenses, good sir (or madam :D), in this instance, you are most firmly and bouncily correct.

*watches Curse of the Fatal Death*

HAhAHAHAHAhAHAA! God I love the web!

Uhm. Yeah. He did. It was just not where you were looking.

All I can say in response is:

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

[identity profile] querldox.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
Eh. They've said that each decided on his own name, so clearly "the Doctor" is less than even an honorary Ph.D.

Although I did once get Neil Gaiman to agree that Thessily was an embittered perpetual grad student. : -)

On second thought, you should send this to Jorge Cham who does Piled Higher and Deeper; I'd love seeing Ph.D. do a Who pastiche.

*snrk*!

ah haha hah hahaha!

I'm afraid this is old Whovian info/joke.

I'm not sure which, but it's been in the Whovianverse for ever.

[identity profile] dvandom.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I figured as much. Seemed like the sort of thing that went into the initial naming of the Master back in the Pertwee years, in fact. :) Simply never came across it before, and it took me 20 years or so of Who-watching to figure it out myself....

[identity profile] scavgraphics.livejournal.com 2007-09-15 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I only realized it when the upcomming episodes played in England the first time, and someone made the joke on OG. Maybe it's more obvious over there:)
